What we offer

Operational Activities and Services

Learning+ operates with a specialised number of Voluntary and Community organisation as a learning consortium within the counties of Devon and Cornwall. The membership consists currently of twenty member organisations, from the Voluntary and Community Sector, of which ten receive mainstream franchise contracts through Learning Plus. To our “members” we offer the following services:

• Advocacy: This can take two directions; firstly, we will if requested, act on behalf on any of our member organisations individually to support, petition or seek to influence the LSC, DfES, RDA and other statuary organisation across a range of educational issues. Secondly, we will petition or seek to influence the LSC, DfES, RDA and other statuary organisation to take actions that will benefit the consortia short and long term.

• Quality Improvement: We are responsible for all issues around existing and the future development of quality. We believe that our learners have the right to expect the best possible provision and learning opportunities possible. Therefore, we are constantly working with our delivery partners to improve the overall delivery of learning.

• Advice and Guidance on training and development issues: A greater proportion of our resources are allocated to the further development of our delivery partners. This operates on the premise of working towards sustainable level of delivery for all of our members, to enable and increase the opportunities for learning to those most disadvantaged within our communities.

• Management Information Service: On behalf of our members, we process all of the educational paperwork, to enable the drawing down of mainstream funding and the creation of data required by our members, the LSC and any statuary bodies (ALI etc) that we as the provider have so responsibility or obligation to, enabling current and future planning to be undertaken.

• Curriculum Development: The needs of learners are forever changing, balance this with the new developments and opportunities within current qualifications, create the opportunity for innovative curricula. Through a process of analysis of local learner needs matched to member organisations resources to delivery high quality provision within specific subject areas, we identify curriculum’s that best suit the needs of the learners by encouraging interest and flexibility which overcome barriers that exist with our “hard to reach” learners. We have achieved through offering accredited courses which adds value to the learners efforts.
